My little girl dog, Zhurka, passed away Monday with a stroke. She is a living legacy of a canine and I truly love her. She will be missed.

Baby, it’s cold outside.

It IS cold in France. Grossly cold for April. It’s about 40′F at the highest today. We’ve been blessed with a few 50′F+ days but they are few and far between. Rather, I’ve had to deal with the fact that the city I moved to is actually, in fact, colder than Chicago right now. Which is actually offensive. Luckily I am easily entertained and I’m wondering about the conversation that happened between the owners who slapped this gorgeous green sweater on their pooch. I wonder if it complements his eyes….?? And did they have to decide between the green and the blue…?? Plaid is certainly too 2007. Please.
P.S. sorry about small size- I’ll try to get a bigger pic.

Inspiration comes in many forms, many legs

Shockingly, I come to Paris and find inspiration not in the art, or les musees, or the lovely adoring French, or their baguettes that they eat on the Metro. Rather, looking down at my feet for a moment of respite, I have come to find a wholly new, unscoped category of Parisien panache: that of their dogs. Yes, my friends, these lovely canines appear just as groomed as their elder human counterparts, with just the same swagger and haute attitude that permeates the area around the Seine. If dogs truly take after their masters, let the following be an example to the whole world.
Take the following example: Le Sportif. I don’t know French really, but….I know style when I see it. And this guy is setting a high bar to follow. Le French Dogs, watch out. The veritable Chuck Norris of the dog fashion world has just been identified.
I’d like to address his booties. The fashionable sweat suit is fantastic and ridiculous enough, but those shoes…..those circular little bits of miracle…..they tread upon the Champse Elysee so lightly, so deftly…like that of a small four-legged angel, a cherub, running through the Parisen streets with just a little yip, a little howl; His tail held so upright and proper that not even Napolean himself can compete with his pride and panache, even taking into consideration the disproportionate differences in height. Salut, mon cherie Salut.
